Sessions include warm up activities, drills for accuracy, consistency and endurance, structured point play and singles and doubles games. Our squad is for experienced tennis players who have a good level of fitness. All our players are seasoned amateur tournament competitors or former top juniors. The age range is from 25 to 60. The minimum standard is Victorian Pennant grade 4, which is equivalent to the United States Tennis Association’s level 4.0. For social and recreational players we have a partnership with Hawthorn Tennis Club, which is an inclusive and gay friendly club welcoming new players to their Sunday Social sessions.
Training sessions are held on Monday nights near Melbourne’s CBD. There is public transport nearby and our clubhouse has shower facilities. Play is held under lights in winter. There is no food or beverage available for sale on site but there are drinking fountains so players need to bring water bottles. There is no training on public holidays or during the Christmas break. New player inquiries can be sent through using the form in the Contact tab of the website.

Two gold medallists from the Sydney Gay Games, VJ and TJ, founded acegirls in 2002. They started acegirls to create a training base for Gay Games competitors of the future. They reunited in 2006 to defend their title in Chicago where they won another gold medal. VJ went into retirement and TJ became a coach and a 4-time Gay Games gold medallist in singles and doubles, with tournament success coming in Sydney, Chicago, Montreal, Stockholm and Paris. TJ continues to run the training squad and organises tournament participation for players to travel and compete.
